What is lorem ipsum placeholder text?
Lorem ipsum is scrambled filler text used in typesetting since the 1500s. It derives from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, with words cut and reordered until it reads like Latin without meaning anything, which is exactly what makes it safe stand-in copy for layouts.
Is the text the same every time?
Only the opening: with the classic start ticked, the first sentence is always the traditional line. Everything after it is drawn at random from the word list on each run, so passages differ. Copy the output once and keep it if you need the same passage again.
Can I choose the number of words or paragraphs?
Yes. Count takes 1 to 50 and Unit switches between paragraphs, sentences and words. Paragraphs are separated by a blank line, so the output pastes straight into an HTML or Markdown draft.
Is the generated text real Latin?
No. The words look like Latin, but the sentences have no grammar and no meaning. That is deliberate: placeholder copy should not read as content, so readers judge the typography and not the text.
