Convert text case

Case Converter changes the case of your text in nine styles: UPPER, lower, Title, Sentence, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE. By default it shows all nine at once, each on its own labelled line; pick one in "Convert to" to get just that result, ready to copy. The identifier styles split on spaces, punctuation and case changes, so helloWorld_foo-bar baz becomes hello_world_foo_bar_baz in snake_case, and they work line by line. Writers use it to fix all-caps pastes and tidy headings, developers to rename variables and slugs.

How to use Case Converter

  1. Open Case Converter in the Toolbox101 app.
  2. Paste or type the text into the Input box.
  3. Leave Convert to on All (labelled) to see every style, or pick one to get only that result.

Frequently asked questions

Does it convert to camelCase and snake_case?

Yes. camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE are all included. They split the text into words at spaces, punctuation and case changes (parseHTTPResponse becomes parse, HTTP, Response) and join them in the style you chose. With several lines of input, each line becomes its own identifier.

How does Title case handle hyphenated words?

Title case capitalises the first letter after any space or punctuation mark, so state-of-the-art becomes State-Of-The-Art. An apostrophe does not start a new word: don't becomes Don't, not Don'T.

Does Title case skip short words like a or the?

No. Every word is capitalised, with no exception list, so a, the, of and and all start with a capital. If you need a headline style that keeps small words lowercase, adjust the result by hand.

What is the difference between Sentence case and Title case?

Sentence case lowercases everything and capitalises only the first letter of each sentence (after a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark) and of each line. Title case capitalises every word.

Are line breaks kept in the output?

Yes. Each variant keeps your newlines, so a paragraph stays a paragraph and a list stays a list. The identifier styles convert each line separately, so a list of phrases becomes a list of identifiers.
