Mock credit card number generator
Credit Card Gen makes a made-up card number that passes the Luhn checksum, for the brand you choose: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB or Diners Club. It prints the number grouped the way the card shows it, an expiry date one to five years ahead and a random CVV (four digits for Amex). Developers use it to test payment forms and client-side card validators without touching a real account. The numbers are not real accounts and no processor will accept them, so use the test cards your payment provider publishes when you need a sandbox payment to succeed.

Are these real credit card numbers?
No. The numbers are random digits in the layout of a card; they do not correspond to any account, carry no balance, and no merchant can charge them. Any attempt to use one on a real checkout is declined, so keep them to local tests and sandbox environments.
Do the generated numbers pass a Luhn check?
Yes. The last digit is calculated so the whole number passes the Luhn checksum that card forms validate client-side, and the length and starting digits fit the brand. A valid checksum does not make a number a real account: no bank issued it.
Which brands and starting digits are used?
Visa starts with 4 (16 digits); Mastercard with 51 to 55 or 2221 to 2720 (16); American Express with 34 or 37 (15, with a 4-digit CVV); Discover with 6011, 65 or 644 to 649 (16); JCB with 3528 to 3589 (16); Diners Club with 36, 38 or 300 to 305 (14).
Will a payment processor accept these in a sandbox?
No. They are random, so a processor will reject them as unknown. For sandbox payments that succeed or fail on purpose, use the test card numbers your payment provider publishes in its documentation.
How is this different from the IBAN validator?
Credit Card Gen creates made-up card numbers and checks nothing about real ones. The IBAN validator does the opposite: it takes an account number you supply and verifies its country code, length and ISO 7064 mod-97 checksum. One produces test data, the other checks data you paste.
