Remove empty lines from pasted text

Remove Empty Lines drops every line that is empty or whitespace-only from whatever you paste, and keeps all other lines exactly as they were: order, indentation, and any trailing spaces included. Developers reach for it when cleaning CSV exports, config files, and command output before diffing or sharing, and writers use it to tighten pasted drafts. Only wholly blank lines disappear, so the content lines themselves are never rewritten.

How to use Remove Empty Lines

  1. Open Remove Empty Lines in the Toolbox101 app.
  2. Paste your text, such as a log, CSV export or config file, into the Text box; the Output box updates as you type.
  3. Check the Output box: every blank or whitespace-only line is gone, and the remaining lines are in their original order with their spacing intact.

Frequently asked questions

Are lines that contain only spaces removed?

Yes. A line counts as empty when trimming tabs and spaces leaves nothing, so whitespace-only lines are dropped together with truly blank ones. Lines that contain any visible character survive untouched, keeping any leading or trailing spaces they carry, which matters when indentation is significant.

Will it delete blank lines I want to keep?

It removes every empty and whitespace-only line, so intentional paragraph or section separators disappear too. If you need visual gaps between blocks, add them back after cleaning, or use the tool on inputs where blank lines are noise (pasted command output, generated lists, and data dumps), which is where it saves real time.

How is this different from Strip Whitespace?

Strip Whitespace collapses every run of whitespace, including line breaks, into single spaces and trims the ends, so multi-line text becomes one continuous line. Remove Empty Lines works per line instead: it deletes only lines that are entirely blank, leaving content lines, their spacing, and the line structure of everything else alone.
